Job Description
As a Security Officer at the Port of Larne, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of port operations, passengers, vehicles, and restricted areas. You will work as part of a professional security team, ensuring compliance with Department for Transport regulations while supporting ferry and port activities.
Key Responsibilities
Secure and patrol restricted port areas and surrounding buildings
Operate in accordance with Department for Transport security standards
Search goods vehicles, passenger vehicles, and foot passengers using the port
Operate metal detectors and X-ray screening equipment
Work with external agencies to prevent and detect criminal activity, including smuggling
Check and verify documentation and identification for vehicles and passengers
Carry out ship escort duties between Larne and Cairnryan
Maintain a professional, vigilant, and customer-focused presence at all times
Working Hours
Four days on, four days off rotating schedule
Combination of day and night shifts
Availability required Monday to Sunday, including weekends
Candidate Requirements
Minimum age of 18 years
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
Professional, approachable, and customer-focused attitude
Basic IT skills and confidence using digital systems
Flexible and reliable for shift-based work
Previous security experience and an SIA licence are desirable but not essential, as full SIA training is provided
